Emiko Shinozaki Jewelry is a Brooklyn-based company that focuses on handcrafted geometric jewelry inspired by organic chemical structures, architecture, music and layers. Each piece is designed, soldered, formed, filed and polished individually in our Dumbo, Brooklyn studio. While most soldering & finishing processes are done “in-house”, Emiko works closely with small NYC family businesses for casting & 18K gold plating; materials that are not created by Emiko herself are purchased from American vendors only. Shinozaki won an emerging artist show award from the American Craft Council and had a 2018 residency at in the Artist Studios at the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC.

Elizabeth Goldfeder started GK Framing Group in New York City in the mid 1980s as a small art gallery and high-end framing studio on Chelsea’s West 22nd Street where she quickly emerged as a leader in the care, preservation and presentation of fine art.

MPR PROCESS
Each element is handfabricated using a mixture of soldering, cold-connection techniques, and textile techniques applied to metal. Designing with the overall principles of proportion, scale and symmetry, MPR finds inspiration in interpreting materials and creating new connection techniques. She experiments with quotidian materials like miniature, structural cabling used in suspension bridges to create collections that are influenced by industrial materials and engineering but are ultimately feminine and wearable . Using sterling silver and gold fill tubing with nylon-coated steel wire as fiber; small segments are hand formed to create geometric shapes that are lightweight, flexible, and adapt to the wearer. Geometric shapes were chosen as the foundation because they are simple, basic, and elementary but can be expounded on to create multi -dimensional forms. Each form acts like a link to interconnect with other forms creating an even 1arger metal tapestry; the resulting pieces are extremely light, web-like structures that have glints of precious metal connectors amongst the flexible metal cabling.

Brit Kleinman founded AVO in 2014 with a collection of hand dyed cowhide rugs. The collection has since grown to include woven leather rugs, home accessories, wall tiles and upholstery. Our studio has the expertise and experience to execute residential and commercial projects at many scales, including large, site-specific commissions.

We work as a team to design, prototype and hand dye our products in-house. The AVO workshop is located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which gives us an incredible glimpse into where NYC has been and where it is heading.
